Our health affects the way we make music.

At first, they seem unrelated – Music, Health and Wellness. But think about it, a singer who suffers frequent sore throats and cold surely cannot perform well. Or worst, he/she cannot perform at all.  Think about pianists and other instrumentalists –  they use their whole bodies and energy to make music!

As perfectly written by Richard Beauchamp in, “…a musician should be regarded as an athlete, with the added responsibility for the artistic and intellectual dimension that music requires. An enormous amount of repetition is needed by most people just to keep reflexes active, chord spacings, etc. automatic, and simply to keep fit. The stamina required to play some of the big works is considerable. Someone calculated that it takes the equivalent energy of shovelling three tons of coal just to move the keys in Rachmaninov’s 3rd Concerto, and this does not take into account the emotional and intellectual energy used!” Therefore, it makes sense that musicians should look after their bodies (their main musical instrument) with great care.

With the aim of enhancing our students and clients’  overall health, well-being and performance, this section on Music & Wellness will provide useful health information and product recommendations that we have tried and proven effective.
